Are You Ready for The Fall Rush?

Consumers are already moving. They’re researching coverage, comparing options, and preparing for enrollment deadlines β€” with or without you. The only question is whether you’re positioned to meet them when they’re ready.

Right now is one of the most effective windows all year to do exactly that. Seminars remain one of the best ways to build trust at scale and turn that research phase into real appointments β€” but they’re just one piece of a bigger shift happening right now in how consumers engage, and how agents need to show up to meet them.

In this issue, we’re covering how to make the most of seminar season, what’s changing in consumer-initiated lead generation, what to lock down before AEP, and a few takeaways from the road that are shaping how we support you.

Back to school means back to seminars

Hot Topic

Why Seminars Continue to Thrive β€” And How to Run Them Right

Seminars offer something many channels cannot: trust-building at scale.

Educational events let agents:

When consumers feel informed rather than sold to, engagement naturally increases.

That trust starts long before anyone sits down. Successful seminars come down to a few fundamentals:

  • Clear educational messaging: Lead with solutions and information, not products
  • Multi-channel promotion: Use direct mail, email, SMS, phone reminders, and digital outreach together
  • Consistent follow-up: Most registrations happen after multiple touches
  • Convenient locations: Accessibility directly impacts attendance rates
  • Immediate appointment opportunities: Capitalize on engagement while interest is highest

Consistency behind the scenes is what separates top performers from the rest. Rather than running events sporadically, the strongest agents and advisors follow a set cadence:

  • Monthly campaigns, or every 6 weeks
  • 3 events per campaign
  • Consistent days and times
  • Geographic market rotation
  • Ongoing lead nurturing between events

That predictability builds operational efficiency and stronger attendance patterns over time. It also means paying attention to where the format itself is heading:

  • Educational focus wins: Consumers prefer learning environments over sales presentations
  • Smaller groups, better conversations: Smaller audiences often produce stronger appointment rates
  • Hybrid follow-up: Combining digital communication with personal outreach improves conversion
  • Faster response times: Prospects expect immediate communication after attending

Seminar topic seasonality

What to Run Between Now and Year-End

Not every seminar topic works the same month. Timing your seminar calendar around what consumers are actually thinking about β€” enrollment deadlines, tax season, financial planning β€” keeps rooms full and appointments flowing year-round. Here’s what to plan for the rest of 2026:

  • Through October: Medicare Seminars. With AEP deadlines approaching, Medicare-focused events are still your highest-converting play. Prospects are actively comparing plans and want guidance before the window closes β€” this is the last real stretch to capture that urgency before December 7th.
  • November: Retirement Planning. As Medicare decisions wrap up, attention naturally shifts to the bigger financial picture. Retirement planning seminars meet clients where they are post-AEP β€” reviewing income strategies, Social Security timing, and how their coverage choices fit into the rest of their plan.
  • Through End of November: Estate Planning. Year-end is when estate and legacy conversations feel most relevant, as clients think about family, taxes, and what’s next. These seminars open the door to deeper planning relationships and often surface referrals within a client’s own family.

Running Medicare seminars first, then transitioning back into retirement and estate planning, keeps your Q4 calendar full without one topic cannibalizing the room for another β€” and positions you as the agent clients come back to for a well-rounded protection plan.

Consumer-initiated engagement

The Shift Toward Consumer-Initiated Engagement

Lead generation is changing shape across the insurance industry. Tightening consent requirements and growing consumer skepticism toward cold outreach have pushed the industry toward a simple principle: the strongest leads are the ones who reach out first.

A few dynamics worth watching:

  • Consent Standards Are Tightening: As 1:1 consent and TCPA enforcement evolve, outreach built on ambiguous or bundled consent carries more risk than ever β€” TCPA lawsuits rose 60% in 2025 alone.
  • Inbound Interest Converts Faster: A consumer who calls in is already past the awareness stage β€” they’re evaluating, not being introduced to the idea for the first time.
  • Digital and Phone Are Converging: The best-performing campaigns now pair digital ad exposure with a direct inbound phone path, letting consumers choose the channel they’re most comfortable with.
  • Speed Still Matters: Whether the lead is inbound or digital, response time in the first few minutes remains one of the biggest predictors of conversion. A Harvard Business Review study found that contacting leads within 5 minutes increases qualification likelihood by 21x compared to waiting 10–30 minutes, and responding within 5 minutes makes a business 100 times more likely to make contact than waiting 30 minutes.

As the industry adjusts to a more consent-conscious environment, agents who build their pipeline around genuine consumer interest β€” rather than volume alone β€” are converting more of the right prospects.

Your AEP marketing engine

Your 2027 AEP Playbook Is Here

That shift toward consumer-initiated engagement isn’t just a trend to watch β€” it’s something you can build your AEP strategy around.

Our 2027 AEP Playbook lays out exactly how to do it: Download Now.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • The three channels that make up a strong AEP engine β€” direct mail, digital leads, and inbound calls β€” and how to run them together rather than relying on just one
  • Timing guidance that runs from pre-AEP setup through post-AEP follow-up, so nothing is left to guesswork

Digital Leads and Inbound Calls, Ready When You Are
We now offer digital leads and inbound calls for Medicare, Final Expense, and Life, giving you a way to reach consumers who are already actively researching coverage, year-round.

  • INSIGHT+ digital leads (Life, Final Expense, & Medicare): exclusive and geo-targeted, TCPA and CMS compliant, TrustedForm certified, and scrubbed against known litigators β€” so every lead in your pipeline is one you can act on with confidence
  • INTENT+ inbound calls (Medicare): consumer-initiated, live-transferred calls delivered straight to your cell phone during the hours you set β€” generated through CMS-approved marketing and fully recorded for compliance, with no callback delay and no cold outreach

Our takeaways from contact.io

Seen at Contact.io: What We’re Bringing Back

Our team spent time at this year’s Contact.io conference, digging into what’s changing in lead generation, compliance, and pay-per-call β€” all with an eye toward how we can better serve you as your insurance marketing partner.

A few themes stood out:

  • Compliance is the make-or-break factor. TCPA litigation is climbing fast, and the operators winning right now are the ones treating compliance as a layered, ongoing system β€” not a one-time checkbox. Even a case that’s won can be costly enough to take down a business.Β
  • Speed and quality are converging. Consumers respond fastest to the first contact, and the industry is moving away from outdated proxies (like flat call-length buffers) toward smarter, intent-based scoring that better reflects a lead’s real value.
  • Transparency wins. When the offer a consumer sees doesn’t match the pitch they get, trust β€” and conversion β€” drops fast. The conference reinforced what we’ve built our process around: leads that are clean, verified, and honestly represented from the start.
  • New regulation may be on the horizon. The FCC could soon require disclosure of foreign call centers, along with a “press 1 for U.S. agent” option β€” a change that could significantly reshape call center operations if enacted. New York (and possibly Meta) may also soon require disclosure when an AI “actor” appears in an ad, particularly for endorsements. It’s recommended to treat that kind of transparency as a best practice now, ahead of any mandate.

AI is opening new doors in the contact center.

A few applications stood out as worth watching:

  • Real-time call insights. AI can now listen to 100% of calls to flag sentiment and surface live prompts to agents in the moment β€” a potential lift for both conversion and coaching.
  • Fraud and quality scanning. AI-driven sentiment and fraud detection is emerging as a way to catch issues earlier and protect lead quality at scale.
  • Smarter agent training. AI training simulators can stress-test reps by going off-script mid-call, helping identify weak points before they show up with real prospects β€” a strong fit for insurance sales training specifically.
  • Connected data. Linking contact center activity with advertising data (like website behavior) is emerging as a way to close the loop between marketing and sales.

We’re taking these insights directly into how we generate, verify, and deliver leads β€” so what you get from us keeps getting stronger, safer, and even more aligned with what actually converts.
